| Telephones/Electronic Games | Telephones/Electronic Games/Computers etc. A phone is provided to make calls to home if the camper does not have a cell phone. Cell phones will be checked in with counselors each morning and only be useable during the evening free time. Phones will be collected right before lights out. Electronic games such as game boys, PSP, etc. are not allowed and should remain at home. Due to the schedules that we’ll adhere to there’s no reason for a camper to bring in a notebook computer or portable DVD players. There will not be enough time permitted for them to watch movies or play computer games so we strongly suggest you leave these items at home. We do have a big screen TV that we show old westerns on if we have to. |

| What Campers Can Expect | What Campers Can Expect q We strongly recommend that campers arrive with an open mind. Many students have taken lessons from their local golf professionals and while we rarely encounter it occasionally our methods may conflict in some way. Our purpose is to stress the proper fundamentals for the golf swing not to make radical changes to a campers swing. q We will be hitting a large number of practice balls during the week and any exercises/practice you can do to toughen the skin on your hands and feet would be recommended. Don’t bring a new pair of golf shoes to golf camp; break them in long before you come to camp. It’s okay to just wear tennis shoes. I don’t recommend sandals. q Campers should be willing to learn other parts of the game not just ball striking. We’ll cover etiquette, course care, sportsmanship, and the rules of golf. We’ll also develop an individualized improvement plan that students can follow once they return home for the summer. q On the last day of each camp we’ll have an awards program. The program starts at 2:45. Parents are welcome to attend this program as we honor the accomplishments of the campers for that week. q Each camper should get plenty of help from the instructors and counselors. Campers are also expected to practice the skills that they’ve been taught on their own when instructors are working with others. q The counselors are also planning fun activities. Swimming Party, and Kids against the Counselors Games, just to name a few. |

| What Should You Bring? | What should you bring? q Golf Clothes and attire for length of camp. Please include collared shirts and Bermuda length shorts to be worn on the Legends Golf Course. I recommend 6 golf shirts and 4 pairs of shorts/pants. q Sweater, Sweatshirt or Jacket. (Evenings can get cool) q Raincoat and/or Umbrella in the event of foul weather. q Golf Bag – We highly recommend a light carry bag q Golf Equipment – Clubs, Shoes, Golf Balls for play on course, Gloves and Towels. We’ll have gloves for sale and we have plenty of golf balls if they need to resupply. q DO NOT bring practice balls. The Academy will provide all practice balls q Any Camper lacking equipment may borrow from the Academy. We’ve found that many campers do not have a sand wedge. We recommend you bring one to camp, as it will be helpful during the bunker lesson. If you don’t have a sand wedge we have a small supply that you can borrow. q Tennis Shoes or an extra pair of comfortable shoes. Often your feet are not accustomed to being in golf shoes for long periods of time. Shoes will also get wet so it is recommended to always have a comfortable dry pair available. I also recommend extra socks. Sandals & flip-flops are fine for free time. q Soap, washcloth, extra bath towels, pillow and toiletries. q A roll of white medical tape or flexible bandages is highly recommended. Often campers develop sore hand and the tape will serve as extra protection. An extra golf glove is recommended. q Spending Money-the amount of spending money campers bring is optional. Golf Shop items and snacks are available. We suggest that students have about $30.00 extra spending money for these incidentals. A counselor will be assigned as camp banker and campers may check money in with him/her for safekeeping. A roll of Quarters is a good idea. (optional). q Swimming Suit q Sunscreen and Chap Stick. We’ll be spending several hours outdoors each day. |
